AKC CGC & Virtual Home Manners Preparation & Testing

As an obedience instructor and AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator, Alyssa Ford is passionate about helping dogs and their people build clear communication, confidence, and real-life manners. The AKC Canine Good Citizen program is a nationally recognized certification that rewards dogs who demonstrate good behavior in everyday situations such as polite leash walking, calm greetings, and reliable responses around distractions. Preparing for the CGC test strengthens the bond between dog and owner while creating a well-mannered companion that can confidently navigate the world.

For busy families or those who prefer learning from home, Alyssa also offers Virtual Home Manners sessions. These one-on-one online coaching sessions focus on the practical behaviors every household needs: potty training routines, polite greetings, crate comfort, settling in the home, and preventing common problem behaviors before they start. Virtual sessions allow owners to receive personalized guidance while working directly in their dog’s everyday environment.

Behavioral Consultations

Behavior challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone! Alyssa Ford offers in-home behavioral consultations designed to evaluate the root cause of your dog’s struggles and create a clear, practical training plan for your household.

During this comprehensive visit, Alyssa will observe your dog in their natural environment, discuss history and triggers, and provide step-by-step guidance to address issues such as potty-training difficulties, anxiety, reactivity, jumping, barking, leash struggles, and other unwanted behaviors.

Each consultation includes a detailed assessment, hands-on coaching, and personalized recommendations so you can begin improving your dog’s behavior right away. Many pet insurance providers offer behavioral training reimbursement, so clients are encouraged to check with their provider to see if behavioral consultations may be eligible for coverage.
